Our Place – Respite Center

Last October, Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State announced their plans to open “Our Place”, a day respite center for persons with Alzheimer’s or related dementia and for their caregivers.  Respite refers to a short time of rest or relief.  It provides a break from the stressful and demanding care routine, allowing the caregiver some free personal time while the person with Alzheimer’s  has the opportunity for different experiences and socialization.  “Our Place” will be staffed by trained volunteers as well as full-time Alzheimer’s Alliance staff members for their “friends” who spend the day at “Our Place”.  ”Our Place” should be opening early summer 2013.

Why We Serve -A Message regarding touching people’s lives

“Last Saturday,  Linda and I were invited by Mayor Wayne Smith to present Alzheimer’s  Alliance services and programs to the Central Baptist Church seniors group. After our 30 minute program, one of the ladies asked to speak.   She recently lost her husband to Alzheimer’s after 6 years – she was his primary caregiver.   Typical successful middle class family – except for Alzheimer’s.   She talked for about 5 minutes on how the Alzheimer’s Alliance basically saved her life.  I won’t go into all of the ways we helped.  But, one night 2 years ago, after finally getting  her husband to bed and to sleep, she went into her bathroom, getting ready for bed herself, was so literally exhausted, she went to sleep on the toilet, fell off on the floor, face first.  About a week later, she learned about our respite grants funded by the Wadley Foundation.  That is when we began helping with a respite grant (support), then through our education and other support services.  Prior to Saturday, neither Linda nor I had ever met her.  Our services that she says saved her life were provided by phone, by our education materials we provided and our Wadley respite grant support.  We have all been tired at times.  Have any of us ever been so totally exhausted as this caregiver was?

WE DO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN CAREGIVER’S LIVES EVERY DAY–IMAGINE THE DIFFERENCE OUR DAY RESPITE CENTER WOULD HAVE MADE FOR THIS COUPLE.  IMAGINE THE POSITIVE DIFFERENCE OUR DAY RESPITE CENTER WILL MAKE IN OUR CAREGIVER’S LIVES WHEN WE COMPLETE OUR BUID-OUT AND OPEN THE DOORS! ”

Young Investors Luncheon

investors lunch

On February 13th, Curt Green & Company, spearheaded by Jason Clanton, sponsored the first Young Investors Luncheon.

Jason said the purpose of the luncheon was to accomplish two goals.  First, it was an opportunity to educate people interested in learning more about the potential risks and returns of investing in commercial real estate.  Second, it provided an opportunity for new investors to meet each other and continue a future dialogue with other members attending the event.

Curt Green & Company will be hosting two additional luncheons for people interested in learning more about investing in commercial real estate.  In addition, Curt Green & Company will be sponsoring a happy hour on March 28th for all attendees of the luncheons.  The purpose of the happy hour is to allow for the attendees of the three luncheons to meet each other and continue the dialogue in what will become a regional real estate investment networking group.

If you or someone you know may have an interest in attending one ofthe luncheons please contact Jason Clanton at 903-306-9225 or jasonc@curtgreen.com
