Congressional hopeful French Hill met Monday afternoon with area businessmen and politicians to talk about matters close to the heart in our area such as Red River Army Depot, Cooper Tire and the continuing progress of interstates 49 and 69.

Hill, a Republican, is running for Arkansas’ 2nd District congressional seat, which is in Central Arkansas. He told the group Monday at the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce building that it is good for him to get to other parts of the state to educate himself on issues that may come up in the future. The founder of Delta Bank and Trust in Little Rock is running against Col. Conrad Reynolds and Ann Clemmer.

“I think we need to send someone to Washington who is a little bit mad about what they are doing up there,” Hill said to the group of roughly a dozen when the informal Q&A session began. “ … I don’t know why they are so run down on businesses. I’m pro-enterprise and pro-growth….I have a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old and I want to leave the (economy) in a better place for them.”
